Reaction of cyclopropenes with a trichloromethyl radical: unprecedented ring-opening reaction of cyclopropanes with migration.
The direct addition reaction of chloroform to cyclopropenes under triethylborane-mediated radical reaction conditions to provide trichloromethylcyclopropanes has been developed. In contrast, using dimethylzinc as a radical initiator led to the formation of unconjugated esters via a domino sequence involving the addition of the trichloromethyl radical, rearrangement and ring-opening reactions.
متن کاملDynamics of Reaction of Monoenergetic Atoms
When monoenergetic atoms are continuously introduced into a thermal gas, they can undergo deactivating, activating, and reactive collisions. The net result of such collisions is to establish a steady-state distribution of laboratory energies which, although not as sharp as the initial distribution, preserves some of its features, such as being centred at about the initial energy. The reactive c...
متن کاملReaction Path Bifurcation in an Electrocyclic Reaction: Ring-Opening of the Cyclopropyl Radical.
Following previous work [J. Chem. Phys. 2013, 139, 154108] on a simple model of a reaction with a post-transition state valley ridge inflection point, we study the chemically important example of the electrocyclic cyclopropyl radical ring-opening reaction using direct dynamics and a reduced dimensional potential energy surface. The overall reaction requires con- or disrotation of the methylenes...
متن کاملReaction of ethylene oxide with nicotinamide and nicotinic acid.
It has been shown that treatment of animal diets with ethylene oxide results in severe destruction of thiamine, niacin, pyridoxine, riboflavin, and folic acid (2, 3) and of the essential amino acids, histidine, methionine (4)) and lysine (5). Consequently, studies were undertaken to elucidate the nature of the reactions of ethylene oxide with the above nutrients. The realization that a tertiary...
متن کاملReaction of ethylene oxide with histidine, methionine, and cysteine.
Since it was shown (2) that the treatment of casein with ethylene oxide could diminish the biological availability of the histidine and methionine of this protein, it became of interest to determine whether other proteins were affected in the same way and to elucidate the nature of the chemical reactions involved. Particular interest in such reactions derives from the use of ethylene oxide as a...
